An Ideal Place to Play
It has been ten years since L.A. Steelcraft, a Pasadena-based manufacturer of equipment for the sports, playground and school industries, hired Diamond Liners, Inc. to coat the pieces of a playground at a school in Glendale, CA. Yet, the client reports back to Diamond Liners, the vibrant color coatings on the playground equipment look as good as they did at the time of the job, which took place between 8/97 and 3/99.
Diamond Liners used a Polyurea-Polyurethane hybrid coating in green and blue colors. The aeromatic system is not color fast but has UV inhibitor to prevent break down like what happens with rubbers and plastics. They used a Graco Foam-Cat spray machine and a GX7-400 spray gun, giving the pieces 100% coverage and a textured finish. The playground, which is constructed of steel, was sprayed in pieces and then assembled at the school.
“It has been 10 yrs since the apparatus had been installed, and during that time, with kids playing on it and normal wear and tear and, it has held up most impressively. The playground is not an enclosed structure so it has also had to withstand exposure to the elements, which it has done beautifully. The equipment looks as good as it did when it was installed – the color hasn’t faded much. The kids are happy, the school is happy and we are happy with the job done by Diamond Liners."
